Mark Clarkson asked:

The best-ever August sales of Toyota was recently reported by Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) USA. Said report divulged sale transactions totaling 240,178 vehicles. Compared to last year’s figure involving same period, the figure has increased by 12.6 percent.

When asked about his reaction to the significant increase of figures, Jim Lentz, TMS Executive Vice President answered, “We are grateful to have the fuel-efficient models today’s market demands. But it’s the strength of our dealer network which is proving increasingly central to our growth.”

Toyota Division has posted its August sales totaling 209,104 vehicles. The number of vehicles sold is 13.6 percent higher than previous sales.

Toyota Division also reported the best-ever passenger cars sales this August. Toyota recorded 125,768 sales, which is 14.7 percent greater than last year’s August sales. Prius, on the other hand got 11,177 sales for August and an increase of 9.3 percent.

In connection with light truck sales, Toyota Division reported an increase of 12 percent. Said increase were led by RAV4 compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) which has the most remarkable sales amounting to 14,363. Said figure was increased by 87.4 percent than that of last year’s figure. The outstanding sales may have brought about by revolutionary RAV 4 Toyota RAV 4 parts incorporated in the vehicle to effectuate a more powerful performance.

Next to RAV4 comes FJ Cruiser which has reported sales of 6,259 units. The Highlander Hybrid mid-size SUV reported sales of 2,581 units. The Highlander and Highlander Hybrid posted combined August sales of 11,645. So far, August has proved to be the best month for Toyota.

Winter Preparation Tips For Your Car

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Richard Crittendon asked:

Winter brings with it an array of holidays, family picnics, and snow balls! On the other hand winter also brings long mornings filled with excruciating car troubles. Preparing beforehand on the maintenance of your car can help greatly with the endless troubles a car can give in winter.

A well maintained car has less chances of ditching you while driving then an ill maintained one. You should have a regular maintenance checklist of your car throughout the year. Some specific maintenance is advisable on a seasonal basis. And generally annual preparation tips include cleaning battery posts, inspection of spark plugs and breaks, and checking the engine oil.

Here are some winter maintenance tips you should keep in mind for preparing your car for winter:

? Check your Antifreeze: antifreeze plays a vital role of your car’s protection against cold weather. A car generally has a solvent made with 50% water and 50% antifreeze in it. The level of the mixture should be checked regularly and should ideally be at full level. If you do not have the knowledge or are not open to the idea of popping that hood of your car, many service centers and mechanics will check the level for you free of any charge. A radiator flush should have already been done in the last season for optimal performance of your car.

? Inspect your tires: Good and healthy tires have many benefits. From assisting in good and efficient breaking to boosting the mileage, a good set of tires proves to be a knight in shining armor in winter. The depth of the tires should be checked for optimum depth. The recommended tire depth is 2/32′ but if your tire depth is less then 4/32″ then you should consider buying a new tire. Along with a tire in a good condition, the tire pressure should also be checked and maintained at the recommended pressure for the tire, the tire losses pressure in winter because of contraction of air molecules.

? Replace your wipers: In winter wipers do the job of cleaning and wiping anything that falls on your windshield, from snowfall to splashed slush from molten snow, the wipers of a car take care of everything. For proper cleaning a wiper should be in a healthy condition. The rubber blades of the wiper should be checked for cracks and unevenness resulting from change in weather conditions, or long term use.

? Check your windshield washer fluid: Windshields are used regularly in winter for cleaning the windshield. A lot of dirt and dust settled on the windscreen turns to stains when it mixes with dewdrops or water from snow. The use of washer fluid is used extensively for this reason only. The level of washer fluid should be checked regularly to avoid running out of the washer fluid. Care should be taken not to use anything other then washer fluid in the washer fluid reservoir because a washer fluid is specially designed for winter and wont freeze.

Apart from the above mentioned tips, many other precautions could be undertaken to suit the individual needs.

Toyota Denies Union Organization in Georgetown Plant

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Jenny Mclane asked:

Rumors have been coming from the United Auto Workers (UAW) camp that there has been “increased activity” by employees in Toyota’s plant located in Georgetown, Kentucky. Word has it that the employees at the said plant are organizing themselves to form a union.

But recently, Toyota countered the rumors by saying that there have been no signs of increased organizing efforts by their Georgetown employees. This statement was made after a rumor surfaced that Toyota is planning to have wage reduction at the said plant.

It seems that the largest union in North America and the surging car maker are not on the same page. But Toyota also announced that they are not planning to reduce the wages of their employees at the plant. This development comes after UAW received a major blow after the Big Three - General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler - announced that they will be reducing their workforce.

The cutting down of jobs by these three domestic car manufacturer is now set in motion. It can be remembered that the emergence of Asian brands led by Toyota in the U.S. reduced the share of the Big Three in the U.S. auto market.

With problems facing the Big Three, they have opted to cut down production thus reducing the number of workers they have. This step has been bitterly contested by the UAW saying that these companies cannot return to profitability by cutting down jobs. And now, aside from the Big Three, it seems that the union is setting its sight on Toyota which is on its way to being the world’s largest car manufacturer.

Toyota has been making great success in the U.S. market and it has been posting sales record after sales record. If the current trend continues, Toyota will overtake General Motors before the end of the year.

While the Big Three are pestered with problems, Toyota is enjoying success and still continuously provides jobs in their plants located in the U.S. Indeed, the economic success of Toyota serves as Rancho shocks which supports the U.S. auto industry.

While there are still no clear pieces of information whether Toyota employees are organizing a union, there are facts that points out that Toyota employees are in good hands and may not be planning any organizing efforts. Last year, the largest Japanese car maker released up to $8,000 in bonuses for its Georgetown employees. That increased the average pay to $30 per hour. This is significantly more than the $27 per hour offered by the Big Three to its share of UAW workers.

Toyota, Starting the Year Right

Anthony Fontanelle asked:

Japanese car manufacturers, most prominently Toyota, has almost taken over of the US market. The car manufacturer is now poised to take the place of Ford Motor Company as the country’s largest manufacturer of cars. Helped by a loyal buyer base and the positive acceptance of the American public of the Toyota Prius, the company has increased its sales not only in its Toyota division but also in its luxury division Lexus. Both divisions have just posted their sales figures for last month and both show an increase in the number of units sold.

The Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. has improved its sales by 5.1 percent which better than January of last year. Last month’s sales of 175,850 units marks their best ever January sales performance.

The Toyota division posted their record breaking January sales 153,732 which translate to a 4.7 percent increase over last year’s number of units sold. The luxury division of Toyota, which is Lexus also boasts of strong numbers, is also having their best ever January with 22,118 vehicles sold which is an increase of 8 percent compared to last year.

In the passenger car segment, the company’s best-seller is the Toyota Camry with 31,462 units sold against last year’s 27,440 and this is an increase of 10.1 percent while 2,081 units of its hybrid version were sold last month. While their hybrid electric car that has set a new trend in the car industry, the Toyota Prius also reported its best January sales of 8,299 units sold - an increase of 4.1 percent over last year’s sales figures.

Sales of light trucks are also up by 1.6 percent with another record-breaking January sales figure of 67,050 units. The strong sales number is led by the compact sport utility vehicle that is the Toyota RAV 4 which shows that the majority of the public is not turning their backs on the sports utility vehicle market. The Toyota RAV 4 has compiled a sales record of 11,925 units sold which gives it its best ever January in terms of sales. Other noteworthy vehicles that racked up strong number of units sold are the Toyota Highlander and its hybrid version which posted a combined sales figure of 10,322 units for the month of January and this is a 13.3 percent improvement over last year’s number of units sold.

The luxury division of Toyota also posted strong numbers for January of this year with 13,574 units sold which is an 18.7 percent improvement over last year’s sales figures for January. The Lexus ES 350 luxury sedan has the largest number of units sold at 5,320 units, but the all-new Lexus LS 460 bested its predecessor, the LS 430 with an increase in sales of a whooping 142.5 percent.

The upward surge of Toyota in terms of sales and seems to be taking the Japan-based company to the top of the leader board in the US market following decrease in the sales figures of both General Motors and Ford Motor Company. Toyota indeed looks all poised to wrestle the second spot from Ford and closing the gap between them and General Motors at a very exceptional rate. Their acceleration towards the top is very much akin to a Toyota Camry cruising at full speed and the driver’s mind not even considering applying the brakes.
