Wanted to inform everyone here that I paid $16400 for my equally equipped Civic gasoline model. I get 36MPG on every fill up, and it will probably run hassle free for 150-200K miles.
I’m sure the new Corolla is equally impressive in its own right.
Why on earth would you gamble on a hybrid car for 9MPG difference… paying over $7K more?

Good luck getting this car repaired in about 3-5 years. That’s when they begin to have problems. Usually electrical first, then later you find out the transmission is slipping. Good luck!!
Very seriously. I will be taking the time to present a well written letter to my congressman, and senator and urge the same from everyone. I hope its not too late to defeat the auto industry bailout. Please copy this if you need to.
-Detroit is asking to continue doing what they’ve been doing. At the Detroit auto show they presented the same gas guzzling road hogs that no one needs. They had plenty of time to present their case, aware that we are watching for and want a change in their ways. This proves that for the past 6 months, let alone the past few years, there is not one new idea stirring around. Detroit needs to be left to their own and if that means bankruptcy so be it.
-They have taken no responsibility in the search for alternative fuels. When the technology has come along to provide fuel efficient cars, they just go for more horsepower. But this doesn’t make anything faster, cause then all the vehicles get heavier instead.
-Quality has not nor will it ever get better. When Chrysler bought Benz. No one was pleased. Mercedes quality went down. Customers were not happy and it shows in reviews and sales. Benz wasn’t happy that they bought their way back out of the merger. Same with Ford and Aston Martin. GM is just notorious for horrible quality.
-Doing a little traveling and research Chevrolet is a basically a facade. A huge portion of their world wide cars are built by Deawoo and Suzuki, not the other way around as they’d like you to believe. And how many GM brands do we need. At least force a split.
-There are other smaller car companies that get squeezed out of the market by these bankrupt giants. Let new ideas flow into the market. The money could be used for these guys. Help them buy the newly abandoned factories. This will give them more resources than before so they can produce the volume we are used to. The new companies will produce the new jobs the communities need.

kybut123, your the **** head. There are plenty of gm and ford plants in the us. And toyota aint mostly made in the us, there mostly made over seas, disasemble, put in crates, shipped here, and re assempled. they do that so they can avoid ceratin us taxes and sell there cars her for less. they can ship a truck here in two piecses and get it into the us cheaper then they can send it all in one piece. and thats bullshit, but our government aint stoping it.
Geee…the new Prius will get ALMOST as good mileage as my diesel Jetta. The Prius has a far-worse carbon print than a Hummer H2; not sure why anyone would want one. Posters below are correct: no one will be buying new cars as the USD is approaching worthlessness and loans are scarce. You people should have voted for Ron Paul when you had the chance!
Toyota is evolving in to bland cars. Ford has found a away with it’s next gen Fiesta, Focus Fusion and Taurus to not only design much more attractive cars but better fuel economy cars as well. The 2010 Fusion Hybred is a prime example of that.
Well…at least they are trying. Can’t complain about that.
